The role of business education is to prepare students to succeed in a work environment where change is continuous, adaptability is essential, and computer competency is a requirement. As business educations, we must help students broaden their horizons, acquire a business perspective, and apply technological knowledge.
The business education program will continue to promote communication skills, leadership, teamwork, self-management, decision-making, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills. A continual goal of our department is to reinforce reading and writing and to develop a bridge between business and the core academic subjects. Business courses are offered at the 6th, 7th and 8th grade levels.
6th Grade Keyboarding for Computer Success
The "KEYS" to computer success are at your fingertips! Using appropriate software, the student will master basic keyboarding technique, speed, accuracy and much, much more! After an introduction to the keyboard, students will learn the basics of Microsoft Word and the Internet to create documents while reinforcing keyboarding skills.
7th Grade Creative Computing
Expand your creative computer abilities! Enjoy creating and producing business documents, web pages, presentations and desktop publishing items, as well as utilizing the Internet effectively. The possibilities are endless.
8th Grade Computer Connections
Jump-start your high school career!! Take the computer challenge and learn the basics of major application software to gain experience in word processing, spreadsheets, electronic presentations, database management, desktop publishing, Internet, web page design, and much more!
Note: Middle school students who receive a "C" or higher in the 8th Grade Computer Connections course will have the high school computer course requirement waived.
