WELCOME TO THE ELLISVILLE ELEMENTARY LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER

  • Library Hours –
    • Monday – Friday
    • 8:45am – 4:00pm
  • Our collection contains over 15,000 items
  • We provide service to approximately 600 students in grades K-5
  • Kindergarteners check out one book on their designated day
  • Students in grades 1-5 may checkout two items
  • All items are due back in one week
  • Our library operates using a Flexible Access/Scheduling System which allows-
    • Every day to be library day
    • Skills to be taught at the time of need in connection with content curriculum instead of in isolation
    • Flexible Access allows students to utilize the library on an as needed basis to return/checkout items, do research, and/or complete assignments
    • Flexible Scheduling allows teachers to collaborate with the library staff to implement, teach, and support content curriculum areas.  Teachers may schedule story times, skills lessons, and/or research activities.  Classes, small groups, or individuals may come multiple times in a week for various amounts of time depending on the activity.
  • Students are responsible for the items that they check out.  We do not charge fines, but we ask students to return items promptly.  If they need the items for a longer period of time, most items can be renewed.  Students are required to pay for items that are lost or damaged.
  • We encourage and support recreational reading!  Students may participate in various voluntary programs.  Additional information on the following are available in the Library, in our newsletter, and in other parts of this website.
    • Grades 1-2 – The Show Me Nominee/Award Program
    • Grades 4-5 – The Mark Twain Nominee/Award Program
    • Grades K-5 – Read Around The Library Challenge
    • Grades K-5 – Student Book Reviews
