 Frequently Asked Question

Q: What is the Legislative Network? View Answer
Answer:
It is a network of Rockwood parents and patrons that connects our schools and community to the importance of legislative issues in Jefferson City and Washington, D.C.
Q: Why do we need community involvement in the Legislative Network? View Answer
Answer:
Members of the Legislative Network help our community understand the impact that our elected officials have on public education.  Increasing this understanding helps our community have a strong voice in legislative decisions.  Now, more than ever, state legislators and members of Congress want to hear the voices of their constituents, especially on issues related to public education.
Q: How does the Legislative Network work? View Answer
Answer:

Each member of the Legislative Network will be kept informed routinely of school issues through e-mail messages or regular legislative bulletins.  Feel free to share this information with anyone who may be interested.

As members become aware of important issues via the Legislative Network, they are asked to make the information available to their community.

There are no meetings to attend. Members are asked to help get the word out, share the information, and help keep the Rockwood community educated about legislative issues. The Legislative Network is a two-way communication source. If members have questions or information to share, they can send in their concerns and receive a response.

Q: How can I join the Legislative Network? View Answer
Answer:
As a community, we need to have a strong voice regarding the legislative decisions affecting the education of our students. Join the Legislative Network by clicking on the "Join" button and filling in your information.
Q: Where can I find additional resources? View Answer
Answer:
Cooperating School Districts (CSD) of Greater St. Louis is a non-profit educational service agency that brings school districts together to share resources, information and ideas through exemplary, nationally-recognized services in educational technology, cooperative purchasing, staff development and more. CSD serves as a proactive voice for education. Rockwood is a member of CSD.

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is the administrative arm of the State Board of Education. It is primarily a service agency that works with educators, legislators, government agencies, community leaders and citizens to maintain a strong public education system. Through its statewide school-improvement activities and regulatory functions, the Department strives to assure that all citizens have access to high-quality public education.

Rockwood belongs to the following educational organizations: MO Association of School Administrators (MASA); MO Association of School Business Officials (MoASBO); MO United School Insurance Council (MUSIC); and MO State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA).  These organizations, with five others, form the School Administrators Coalition or SAC.  As part of that membership, we receive bulletins throughout the legislative year, which convenes in January and adjourns at the end of May each year.  These bulletins may be found above under School Administrative Council Bulletins.
