Residents Review Pictures of Rockwood
Community members reviewed eight pictures of what Rockwood could look like in the future during the second series of Picture Rockwood workshops held Oct. 9 and Oct. 11. With scenarios ranging from reductions in programs and staffing to a potential bond issue or tax rate increase, community members had the opportunity to share their preferences regarding how Rockwood should address its anticipated $6.6 million budget shortfall for the coming school year.
Community co-chair Park Plank described the small group activity as a productive one. “With eight scenarios to review, residents had a lot to discuss," said Plank. "Based on conversations had by participants, it’s evident our community is invested in this process and the children of our district."
In groups, residents shared their opinions of the pictures by responding to a series of questions. They were asked to indicate their first and second most preferred picture. Group members also shared their suggestions regarding modifications to improve or strengthen their preferred pictures.
Materials shared at Workshop Session Series 2 are available on the right column of this page. The next workshop sessions (series 3) will be held Oct. 30 and Nov. 1.
