Last July, the Rockwood School District launched Picture Rockwood, a community engagement
process focused on developing a plan for the future of our schools.  Watch this video to learn more.

Review the Pictures
Since September, more than 400 Rockwood community members have attended workshops to study the challenges facing the district and provide input on solutions. As a result of this input, two pictures, or scenarios that represent the potential future of Rockwood schools, have been developed. Review the pictures.

 Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is Picture Rockwood? View Answer
Answer:

Picture Rockwood is a citizen-led program designed to ensure all community members have a voice in the key decisions that impact the future of the school district. Members of the Rockwood school community will work together to understand the challenges facing their schools and students, and develop recommendations for the future.  Four citizen co-chairs are leading this community engagement process.  A facilitating team comprised of Rockwood parents, community members and staff will monitor the program along the way to ensure the process is effective and efficient.

Q: Why is Rockwood conducting this community engagement process? View Answer
Answer:
Board members have heard that our community members want to have a voice in key decisions that impact the future of their neighborhood schools. Rockwood is at a crossroads and understands how vital it is to implement a process that is structured, but open, to hear all the voices in the community. This was a unanimous Board decision, and all members believe it is the right thing to do for students at this time in the history of the school district.
Q: How are the workshops structured? View Answer
Answer:

Picture Rockwood community engagement sessions are “roll-up-your-sleeves” workshops. Participants will work in small groups to discuss and reach consensus on responses to specific tasks which are designed to become building blocks to recommendations at the conclusion of the program.  As sessions progress a variety of “pictures” or conditions and circumstances of what Rockwood might look like in the future will be presented. Participants will be asked to evaluate those pictures, determine their preferred picture and suggest improvements to the picture. This process of evaluating and narrowing the pictures will continue through the first phase of the program.
