Our team is innovative, dynamic, and enthusiastic. We enjoy trying new strategies as our curriculum changes. Two examples of curricular highlights include: a variety of authentic writing projects, such as research papers, and a Flat Stanley Project in which students learn about different areas of the United States when Stanley and their Flat Selves visit.
Field trips and guest speakers are used to enhance our units of study. In the past guest speakers have included: local television personalities, speakers from various cultures, local businesspeople, historical experts, and animal experts.
Our second grade team differentiates instruction through the use of pre-tests and other assessment instruments. We use individual, small, and whole group instruction to meet the needs of every child. Students are challenged at all levels of learning.
