The Rockwood School District has a history of setting high academic expectations for student success. To achieve this goal, educators continually seek information and analyze data to improve teaching and learning. This quest has led to the development of the District’s Assessment Plan. The measures listed in the report are cornerstones of that plan.
Missouri Assessment Program Grade Level Assessments (MAP)
Rockwood students scored above the county and state in the percentages of students proficient or advanced in both communications arts and mathematics at all grade levels.
Missouri Assessment Program End of Course (MAP EOC)
Rockwood students continue to exceed state averages on the End of Course assessments. Eighty-nine percent of Rockwood students were proficient or advanced on the required MAP EOC English II Assessment and 79 percent were proficient or advanced on the required mathematics assessment. On both assessments, RSD students outperformed the state average.
Advanced Placement Exams (AP®)
The class of 2011 achieved an exam passage rate of 88.7 percent, compared to 64.2 percent at the state level.
American College Test (ACT)
The class of 2011 had a composite ACT score of 24.1, outscoring the state composite of 21.6.
SAT Reasoning Test (SAT)
Rockwood seniors in the class of 2011 had an average score of 618 in reading and 622 in math. This surpasses the Missouri average of 592 in reading and 593 in math.
PLAN Assessment (PLAN)
Rockwood sophomores outscored students in Missouri and nationwide with an average composite of 20.
EXPLORE Assessment (EXPLORE)
Twenty-four percent of Rockwood eighth-grade students met all four college readiness benchmarks on the EXPLORE assessment. The average for eighth-grade students nationwide is 13 percent. Moreover, the average composite score for Rockwood was 17.2 as compared to the nationwide average of 14.9.
Stanford Achievement Series Test Series, 10th Edition (SAT 10)
Rockwood second-grade students scored at the 58th percentile for the SAT-10. Fourth-grade students were at the 65th percentile, while 6th-grade students scored at the 67th percentile. This means that Rockwood students scored higher than the majority of students nationwide.
