Participating in this digital world is fast becoming a necessary condition for successful participation in society. Schools need to prepare students through the use of information and communication technologies, such as computers, networking and other digital and non-digital technologies, as well as audio, video and other media tools.
Missouri defines student technology literacy by using the Show-Me Curriculum Standards and the National Education Technology Standards for Students (NETS*S). Based on the NETS*S, students should be able to do the following:
-
Apply strategies for identifying and solving routine hardware and software problems that occur during everyday use;
-
Exhibit legal and ethical behaviors when using information and technology;
-
Design, develop, publish, and present products using technology resources that demonstrate and communicate curriculum concepts;
-
Select and use appropriate tools and technology resources to accomplish a variety of tasks and solve problems.
