Vocal Music
Kindergarten general music classes meet for thirty minutes once a week. Music games and activities are used to help the students learn about composers, rhythm, reading music symbols, how to show their creativity, good singing habits, and to play percussion instruments more.
First, second, third, fourth and fifth grade general music classes meet twice a week for thirty minutes. They also experience, according to their grade level, rhythm activities, reading and using music symbols, how to use their creativity, playing percussion instruments. We study about composers, their music and their place in history. The students use their creativity when writing songs, lyrics, and raps; performing; acting; role-playing; and drawing to music. The special emphasis is learning how to use and have good singing habits. Music enhances units of study in every subject such as history, reading, writing, math, language arts, and spelling by doing activities, songs, etc. to support what students are learning in their regular classrooms.
Fifth grade will have an opportunity to audition for Special Chorus, which meets once a week for thirty minutes. Students will present special performances.
Orchestra Music
Fourth grade meets twice a week for forty minutes for Suzuki violin lessons. Fifth graders may choose to participate in orchestra, which meets twice a week for forty minutes.
