New! BablerWiLD Scout Adventures for Spring 2011
 

This Spring, the Outdoor Education Center is offering the following badge programs  on Rockwood early release days and days off from school! If your den, troop or pack would like to come out and participate in a program led by a member of the OEC staff, look at the options below and call our office to speak with an OEC staff member 636-458-3048 or email bableroec@rockwood.k12.mo.us.

Wild Scout Adventures- Spring 2011

Outdoor Scouting Badges (2 hour activity) March 8, 9 or 10
Come and play in the great outdoors! Practice packing the right gear to keep you safe in any situation. Learn the principals of Leave No Trace. Take a hike that combines the art and science of nature! This program can be structured to meet any of the following badges. Webelos- Outdoorsman Wolf- Great Outdoors Brownies- Outdoor Adventurer Juniors- Your Outdoor Surroundings
Fee: $5 per Wolf/Brownie scout; $6 per Webelos/ Junior scout

Spring Break Nature Crafts (2 hour activity) March 18
Start your spring break off right by joining us for an exciting and artistic nature program! We’ll take a look around the forest to see what we can find to create our own crafts to take home. Learn about animal tracks; build a rock collection and more! Scouts will complete at least three crafts to take home.
Program will be run at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. All scouts are welcome! Call the OEC office to register.
Fee: $6 per scout

Geocaching (2 hour activity) April 21
Join us for this Rockwood early release day! Learn to use a Global Positioning System and topographic map in the sport of geocaching. We will explore the Outdoor Education Center and search for caches that contain treasure! Make a topographical map to take home!
Fee: $6 per scout

Orienteering (2 hour activity) May 10, 11 or 12
Learn all about maps, how to use a compass and why “Fred is in the Shed!” Discover the different types of maps, how to use a topographical map and how to gauge distance and time. Then, use a map and compass to navigate an orienteering course at Babler and find out everything you need to know about this very important scouting skill!
Fee: $6 per scout

Badge Programs by Appointment
The Babler Outdoor Education Center offers badge programs by appointment for Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts.  There are a variety of environmental education, outdoor skill and craft programs to choose from.  Appointments are set on a first come, first serve basis and availability depends on the Outdoor Education Center schedule.  Fees range from $3 – 10 per scout, depending upon the program.  You can download a list of programs we offer or we can customize a program to meet your needs. Call the office today to inquire about badge programs and make an appointment.

Babler Outdoor Education Center
