SIXTH GRADE UNIFIED ARTS - DRAMA COMPONENT
The Unified Arts Drama Component is an introduction to fundamental acting skills and the types of theatre through activities involving the literature and culture of other countries. Students learn concentration, movement, voice, and characterization skills. Students also participate in a variety of activities which may include pantomime, story theatre, mask-making, short scenes, and improvisation. Through each project students develop an appreciation for a culture different from their own as well as develop a growing knowledge of the theatre arts.
SEVENTH GRADE BEGINNING ACTING LAB
In Beginning Acting Lab, students develop beginning acting skills through a variety of exercises and activities. Acting exercises focus on warm-ups, developing a character, concentration, vocal expression, stage movement, memorization skills and improvisation. Students use costumes, props, and scenery to add to their performances. Evaluation will be primarily based on in-class performances.
EIGHTH GRADE THEATRE ARTS
In Theatre Arts, students explore all aspects of theatre, including acting, design, and stagecraft. Students learn basic acting skills through activities such as improvisation, monologue, and scene work. All students participate in class performances. Students have the opportunity to explore technical theatre and design through projects and demonstrations.
