Grading System:
A student’s grade in Physical Education/Health at Crestview is based on total points accumulated. Each student will be evaluated on participation, projects, homework, class activities, and tests. Daily points are earned in physical education for dressing out and fully participating in class each day. There are assessments for each unit. Health points will be accumulated through participation in class activities, projects, and written tests. Quarter and semester grades will be a combination of Physical Education and Health.
Dressing Out:
Students are required to wear a Crestview uniform or blue shorts and a gray T-shirt. The student’s first initial and last name must be permanently on the front of the T-shirt. The student’s last name must also be placed on the outside of the gym shorts. Pajama bottoms, tank tops, and clothing worn to school that day are not acceptable wear for P.E. class. Students will not be allowed to roll their shorts, wear them below the waistline, or tie the backs of their t-shirts. Students are also required to wear tennis shoes. Laces must be properly tied. Items worn to school that day are not acceptable wear for P.E. class.
A written note from a parent and/or preferably a doctor will be the only excuse allowed for non-participation. We understand that a note from the parent may be all that is necessary in some instances. For extended illness or injury, a doctor’s note is required.
Students are required to make up any absence and/or parent/doctor note in order to earn credit. P.E. make-up log sheets will be available through your p.e. teacher.
Locks and Lockers:
Students need to provide their own combination lock for their gym lockers. Because of the limited space available, students may be asked to share locks and lockers.
Special items that need your attention:
Students are not allowed in the locker rooms unless accompanied by a teacher/supervisor. Students must be out of the locker room in five minutes after the bell rings. Their appropriate teacher dismisses them once the bell rings. The bell does not release the class. Please do not bring money or expensive items to Physical Education class. Jewelry should not be worn during class and should be locked in your locker. Electronic items; such as MP3 players, CD players, IPods, and cell phones will NOT be allowed in the P.E. locker rooms, and if brought to school, should be left locked in hall lockers.
