Curriculum by Department
The Department of Curriculum and Learning is dedicated to providing the district with a continuous, systematic process to enhance student learning. Our goal is to improve the education opportunities and increase the effectiveness of the educational programs and services provided to students throughout the district.
Development & Maintenance of Curriculum
Curriculum study and writing should be a continuous improvement process. Each curriculum document is reviewed on an annual basis and is revised and updated (in-depth year) on a six-year cycle via approval of the Rockwood School District Board of Education. The content and format for the curriculum documents are also clearly established and meet the guidelines established by MSIP.
Differentiation and Acceleration
Many components of differentiation and acceleration are in place with Rockwood teachers receiving ongoing professional development and support to assure full implementation.
Professional Development
Rockwood School District Staff Development promotes continuous professional growth in a supportive environment by enhancing the knowledge and skills of all staff, with the expectation that doing so will also raise the levels of student performance.

Standards-Based Grading and Reporting
The purpose of grading and reporting is for educators to communicate to students, parents and guardians what a student knows and is able to do. It is important to ensure the clear communication of class expectations, grading criteria and curricular standards in a clear and timely manner.
