Research indicates that accurate reporting of student achievement based on clear criteria enhances student achievement.
Rockwood is committed to setting clear expectations that provide meaningful feedback for students and clear communication with parents. The focus is on providing information and support for the following:
- Consistent meaning of grades from class-to-class and school-to-school
- Clear and timely communication of grading criteria and curricular objectives
- Opportunities for student involvement in the learning process
- Use of a variety of assessment methods over time
- Achievement level of students related to curriculum objectives
To improve the general framework and expectations for grading and reporting, a new policy/regulation was adopted by the Board of Education. Read Policy 6450 >>
The district is collaborating with teachers, parents, and administrators to implement these updates. We want to support the work of our teachers and give them training so they understand how clear, consistent, standards-based grading works in the classroom. The district is in the process of developing structures and materials to support our students and their education.
