The Rockwood mathematics curriculum reflects the importance of mathematical literacy for all students. In an effort to produce a curriculum that meets the needs of Rockwood students, our work has been guided by parent, teacher, and student recommendations; guidelines from the National Council of TeachersĀ of Mathematics and the Missouri Show-Me Standards; and District testing requirements. To meet these expectations, our curriculum is student-centered and will allow for exploration, discovery, conjecture, and application of mathematics.

Rockwood Math Algorithms and Strategies Handbook
An in-depth look at the progression of algorithms in the Rockwood math program. This handbook includes milestones, examples, and applications, as well as sample practice problems with solutions.
To facilitate student learning, teachers utilize a variety of techniques such as direct instruction, cooperative learning, and appropriate use of computers and calculators. Through numerous and interrelated mathematical experience, students will work to attain the following goals:
- become mathematical problem-solvers
- communicate mathematically
- reason mathematically
- connect mathematics to their daily lives
- develop confidence in their own abilities to do mathematics
- appreciate and understand the role of mathematics in real-world situations.

Middle School
The District's Middle School mathematics curriculum has a multi-faceted focus. All of the components and goals provide a coherent viewpoint that mathematics is more than a body of knowledge and skills. Mathematics is a way of interpreting, predicting, understanding, and succeeding in a complex world.

High School
Mathematics is a fundamental skill used in all areas of life. Since students need to become life-long mathematical learners to be successful in society, one goal of this curriculum is to provide students with the necessary tools and opportunities to understand mathematical concepts. Another goal is to continually relate mathematics to real-world applications and situations.
