Speech Proficiency
Beginning with the graduating class of 2008, all Rockwood students must show proficiency in public speaking. This proficiency can be met by completion of one of the following courses with a C- or better:
- 8th Grade Introduction to Public Speaking
- Public Speaking
- Oral Communication
- Advanced Oral Communication
- ALAR/P I
- ALAR/P II
- Competitive Speaking I
- Competitive Speaking II
- Debate
- Broadcasting I
- Broadcasting II
- Authentic Science Research II
- Authentic Science Research III
- Business Presentations
- Theatre Arts I: Beginning Acting Studio
- Foreign Language Course -- Level III, IV, or V
- passing a proficiency test -- offered once a year -- beginning spring 2005
Rockwood students may also satisfy the proficiency requirement by passing an oral presentation in 9th Language Arts, 9th Honors Language Arts, 10th Language Arts, 10th Honors Language Arts, 11th Language Arts, Language, Communication & Composition I & II.
