The Rockwood Drug-Free Coalition produces a newsletter specifically directed to Community Leaders who have pledged support and solidarity with the Coalition's goal of safe and drug free neighborhoods for our children. Alcohol Compliance Checks
Last year, the St. Louis County Police, in partnership with the Ballwin, Chesterfield, Ellisville, Eureka, Manchester and Wildwood police departments, conducted compliance checks of area liquor merchants, including stores, gas stations and restaurants. These compliance checks were sponsored by the Rockwood Drug-Free Coalition.
The following liquor retailers were found in compliance with laws prohibiting the sale of alcohol to minors. The Rockwood Drug-Free Coalition thanks these retailers for their vigilance. Full story
Social Hosting Ordinances Approved
Clarkson Valley and Eureka
Several Rockwood community municipalities have passed specific ordinances against social hosting. It is important to know that parents can be held responsible - financially and criminally - for violations committed by their children. Parents who supply, or allow the consumption of, alcohol by minors are in violation of a St. Louis County ordinance and can be arrested or fined. Full story
Drug-Free Coalition Awarded Grant
In September 2009, the Drug-Free Coalition received a federal Drug-Free Communities grant of $125,000 per year for five years, potentially renewable for five additional years. The grant was awarded by the Office of National Drug Control Policy. Funds will be used to address youth substance abuse in the Rockwood community. Full story
Coalition Awarded Youth Leadership Grant
The Coalition was awarded a $5,000 grant in October 2010 to develop a youth leadership training program. The grant was awarded by ACT Missouri, a state level organization that facilitates substance abuse prevention. The youth leadership training will provide an opportunity for Rockwood community leaders to coach student leaders.
