Medication Take-Backs

The Coalition collaborates with area Police Departments, municipalities and the Drug Enforcement Administration to provide numerous Medication Take-Back events each year.  Residents take advantage of these opportunities to properly dispose of expired or unwanted medications, making their homes safer while protecting the environment. Over 5,000 pounds of prescription medication have been collected from Rockwood community homes during the past two years.

Our next Medication Take-Back will be on September 29 from 10:00am to 2:00 pm.  This event will provide a place to dispose of unwanted and expired medication so that it cannot be abused.  Click here for our 6 locations.

Jim Meyer, Co-Chairman of the Rockwood Drug-Free Coalition, was interviewed by KSDK's Kay Quinn recently about the dangers of prescription drug abuse in St. Louis and the importance of disposing excess medications responsibly.  Click to see the video.

On Saturday, April 28th 2012, we sponsored six take-back events. Residents brought in over 2,500 pounds of unused drugs.  Many locations doubled the amount of drugs they brought in, making this event one of the most successful we have had so far!

Take-Backs that occurred on October 29, 2011 were a huge success.  Read about them here.
