What is Early Childhood Special Education?

(ECSE)

The Rockwood School District is responsible for providing a Free and Appropriate Public Education to children who have been identified as eligible according to the criteria outlined in the Missouri state education plan for Special Education.  Special Education and related services for preschool-aged children are referred to as Special Education.

Parents of children who are 3-5 years old or approaching 3 who suspect their child may have a developmental delay that may affect them educationally should contact Kristin Clemons at 636-891-6214 to begin the referral process.

As we busily prepare our students for kindergarten, we want to prepare you as well. To do so we have created an e-learning module to help you understand the transition to kindergarten process. The module takes about 8 minutes to complete. We hope the presentation is very informative.
