8th Grade Theme: Systems
Systems thinking is a fundamental tool for achieving success in today's world. During the eighth-grade year, Academic Stretch students will work independently and collaboratively as they learn about systems: where they exist, how they operate, and how they interact with one another. Units studied may include economic, judicial, political, and social systems.
Another dimension of the eighth-grade curriculum is exploration of students' unique interests and personal goals. Students will explore college and career options through internet research, interaction with professionals in various fields, and review of related literature. These experiences are designed to help students make a successful transition to high school and beyond.
