We welcome you to the library at Green Pines Elementary School. Everyday is a library day at Green Pines!! Through our flexible access library program, students in grades K-5 can visit the library any day, with a pass from their classroom teacher. This open door policy encourages students to read for pleasure, do research when needed and pursue other small group projects.
We are a busy part of the school. The classroom teachers and librarian collaborate on a regular basis so that the library skills are directly integrated into the curriculum. The librarian and classroom teachers plan lessons, stories and activities that are a direct link with what the students are learning in the classroom.
The library at Green Pines is proud to have over 14,000 items for checkout including books, CDs, DVDs, and videos for the staff which relate directly to the curriculum. In addition, we have 2 classroom areas, a Smart-board to be used by all the staff, and 12 student computers.
With the help of parent volunteers, we circulate books, assist students in locating materials, scanning pictures and pursing other activities that enable students to become independent library users, a lifelong skill.
