Rockwood welcomes student teachers and observers during the fall and spring semesters (does not include Summer Academy).
To request a placement for student teaching please submit the following:
- Written placement request from your university, listing:
- Description of the assignment
- Certification Level
- Certification Subject
- Assignment starting and ending date, or total hours required
- Student's profile, bio or resume
- Student's transcripts (if in a Master's program, graduate and undergraduate transcripts)
- Letters of Recommendation are welcome
- Criminal background check clearance
- Documentation of FBI Fingerprinting completed within the last twelve months (requirement effective beginning with 2011-12 student teachers)
- Documentation of a Division of Social Services Central Registry Child Abuse Search completed within the last six months
- TB test results
- Record of negative results of a tuberculosis test completed within the last six months
- Online survey for Student Teachers
- Once a placement request is received from the university, information will be sent to the student to complete a certified staff application. Once the application is complete, an e-mail will be sent with instructions on completing an online TeacherInsight survey with the Gallup Organization. The online TeacherInsight interview can be completed at your convenience, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
To request a placement for student observing please submit the following:
- Written placement request from your university, listing:
- Description of the assignment
- Certification Level
- Certification Subject
- Assignment starting and ending date, or total hours required
- Criminal background check clearance
- Documentation of a Missouri State Highway Patrol Criminal Record Check completed within the last six months
- Documentation of a Division of Social Services Central Registry Child Abuse Search completed within the last six months
- TB test results
- Record of negative results of a tuberculosis test completed within the last six months
An observation for 10 hours or less only requires the request from the university.
When the request from the university is received, a request to the school will be sent. As soon as the principal responds, an e-mail will go out to advise if the request is approved and if it is okay to contact the school to set it up.
