President Elect Committees

HOSPITALITY/WELCOME

Assist making packets of information for new families and calls to welcome them. Also, assist in providing and serving refreshments for various events at school.

CHAT ‘N CHEW

This is a great one for moms with little ones. No need to come to school or have any meetings. Assist in organizing and finding volunteers to lead a book discussion during lunch for students in 1st through 4th grade. Will work closely with grade level lead teacher to pick best book for the students. Volunteers will be in charge of a small groups of students. Book discussions are held three times during the year. Please indicate if you have a grade preference.

 

V.P. Communications Committees

KM eNews

Merges KM eNews submissions into an email to be distributed by the office. Chairperson needs access to computer. Chairperson will also fill folders, weekly, for those students who do not have access to the KM eNews.

SCHOOL MARQUEE

Keeps the School Marquee updated with current KM information throughout the year.

 

V.P. School Support Committees

CARE COMMITTEE

Provide support, meals, etc. for KM staff member(s) during a time of need (i.e. death of a family member, hospitalization, babies, etc). You will be called when the need arises.

DECORATIONS

Assist in decorating the school for various seasonal changes and functions throughout the school year primarily in the rotunda and front door entryway.

GREEN THUMB

Calling all gardeners & “rookie wanna-be’s!” Assist the Chairperson with the maintenance of outdoor flower beds at the school.

SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHER

In charge of recording school events by taking photos and coordinating the production of the All-School video at the end of the year. Helps with the assembly of the school’s yearbook.

STAFF APPRECIATION

Assist in ordering and delivering the monthly staff appreciation birthday recognition; preparing back-to-school welcome gifts for the staff, and recognizing staff members during district-wide recognition times.

STAFF APPRECIATION LUNCHEON

Assist in the planning and organization of the Staff Appreciation Luncheon in the spring to let our wonderful staff know how much we treasure them!

TEACHER CONFERENCE DINNERS

Organize and arrange meals for teachers during conferences (fall & spring). Assist in the preparation and serving of the teacher conference dinners.

WRAP PACS (School Supplies) 

Chairs to obtain school supply list from office for the upcoming school year in January. Organize, tally and distribute orders. Supplies are delivered week before school begins so some late summer planning and organizing is needed. Several volunteers needed for quick distribution.

LOST & FOUND

Assist in organizing and returning lost & found items that are labeled. Pack up the unclaimed items and put them in the Yellow House quarterly.

 

V.P. School Events Committees

BINGO / PIZZA KNIGHT

This is a great family night out. Assist in the planning and organizing of this fun filled night of Pizza and a game of bingo. This event requires lots of volunteers. Planning of this event does not start until winter time.

MOVIE KNIGHT (will return 2012-2013)

This is great family night, new to KM this year. Assist in the planning and organizing of two evenings (K-3, and 4-5 grades) including selection of movie, coordination/sales of concessions, and promotions.

HARVEST KNIGHT (Fall Festival)  

This is one of our biggest events for the whole family and all KM kids and alumni look forward to this night filled with fun games and prizes. Assist in planning and organizing this fall festival. This will require some late summer planning. We will need lots and lots of volunteers to make this event a success. This is good for someone that has lots of creative ideas.

FIFTH GRADE ACTIVITIES

Make this a year your child will remember forever. Assist in planning special school events for all 5th grade students.

FUN & FIELD DAY

This is an End of the Year Event and the kids look forward to this all year long. Assist in planning and organizing this fun filled day of games for all the students. This is an all school day long event and requires lots of parent volunteers.

SPIRIT OF GIVING

Assist with the annual gift-giving program, which provides gifts to KM families in need.

 

V.P. Fundraising Committees

LARGE FUNDRAISER/CAPITAL CAMPAIGN 

Promote campaign of tax-deductible monetary donations and corporate/employee matching programs. 

TRIVIA KNIGHT

Oversee planning of Trivia Knight, typically held in April. Coordinate event location, corporate donations, trivia questions, contests, silent auction - many experienced volunteers always on hand to help! Planning begins after winter break. Flexible hours for planning various sub-committees. 

FALL BOOK FAIR

Getting our kids reading the latest and greatest isn’t always easy and this committee helps families connect immediately to the best children’s and adult authors. Chairperson attends Coordinator meeting at Scholastic, oversees bookfair, coordinates delivery, set-up, breakdown, and schedules volunteer shifts. Volunteers will take turns working short shifts assisting in book selections and check out. Only brief on the spot cashier training is needed. Many volunteers needed to share shifts.

REBATE PROGRAMS

Box Tops Manage the collection, counting and redemption of the Box Tops for Education program. Send out occasional reminders and congratulate our Monthly Winners in the KM e-News! Volunteers may be needed to collect once a week and count at a casual get together once in the fall and once in the spring.

Yellow House: Promote awareness of donations for gently used clothing, sheets, linens, towels, shoes, etc. in the KM e-News.

Recycling: Oversee publicity, collection and submission of old cell phones and ink cartridges using prepaid postage labels. Reap benefits of helping us to go “green”. 

COMMUNITY CASH BACK PROGRAMS

e-Scrips: All families are encouraged to register for the free e-Scrips program through Schnucks grocery stores. Pick up a card from their courtesy counter and call to activate or register online at www.secure.escrip.com. KM earns money every time you present your card before check-out. 

 

Committee Chairs will be provided a list of known volunteers to help them fulfill the obligations of the committee.
Assistant Chairs take over the Chair position for the following school year.
