BAND, ORCHESTRA AND CHOIR STATE COMPETITION

This weekend was State Solo and Ensemble at the University of Missouri. I would like to share the results for several of our performances. Sophomores are highlighted in blue.

Band results:

The following students received a SUPERIOR rating:

Kelly Storrs – Clarinet Solo

Lucas Shapland – Marimba Solo

Julie Park – Flute Solo

Ryan Beike, Thomas McKanna, and Lucas Shapland – Percussion Trio

The following students received an EXCELLENT rating:

Lizzie Frisella, Lauren Hogan, Erin McCarthy, and Kelly Storrs – Clarinet Quartet

Troy Bray, Shivesh Kabra, Mihir Parthasrathy, and Eric Pascoe – Saxophone Quartet

Orchestra results:

The following students received a SUPERIOR rating:

David Branam – Violin Solo

Richard Lu – Violin Solo

Julie Sun – Cello Solo

Class of 2014 Ring Ceremony

The Ring Ceremony took place on April 13, 2012. Thank you to our parent speaker Mr. Bill Eads, to Jostens for providing the wonderful breakfast, and to parents for supporting your student.

ROCKWOOD DRUG FREE COALITION PSA CONTEST WINNERS

Congratulations to contest winners from Lafayette High School:

Jake Lee - 1st Place, High School Poster

Abigayle Gellash - 2nd Place, High School Poster

Thomas Heney - 1st Place, High School PSA

Over a hundred high school and middle school students in the Rockwood community submitted entries for the inaugural “As Seen by Teens” substance abuse prevention public service announcement and poster contest sponsored by the Rockwood Drug-Free Coalition. The Judging and Awards Ceremony was held February 23rd at B&B Theater in Wildwood. Attendees viewed the posters and PSAs on a big screen, witnessed the independent judges complete their scoring rubrics, enjoyed entertainment provided by emcee Joe Fingerhut, and cast their own votes for an “audience choice” winner.
