Junior Principal - Mr. Matt Dieckhaus

From The Principal's Desk

I hope everyone is still following their New Year’s Resolutions.

February is chocked full of events, so please check the calendar below for more details.

Mr. LHS allowed the men of LHS to “strut-there-stuff”.  Congratulations to all the participants.

The biggest activity for the Junior Class this month is Taste of West County on the Feb 22The Junior class will be helping set-up and serve on this evening so we need you all to participate (Families are welcome too).  Sign-up sheets will be placed in the junior office beginning in February. Please plan on helping.

If you are a member of the Junior Advisory, you are required to attend and help.

A special “Thank You” to all those parents who have supported this effort to date, you’re AWESOME!

At this time of year, many of our Junior class have already taken, or are preparing to take ACT and SAT testing. It is recommended that all juniors who are planning on attending college take an ACT exam in their junior year, preferably the April test.  This will allow us to examine scores and offer prep sessions if they are needed and/or desired. Data shows that ACT scores in recent years have been running higher in April than in June.

If you need more information, please visit the College Center on the LHS website.

See you at school

Update from your Junior Class LPO Directors

February 2010 News from your Junior LPO Directors

Our class just finished organizing Mr. LHS.  Thank you to all of our volunteers who sold tickets during lunch hours and worked the event.  We now have many wonderful parents working to make the junior class #1 fundraiser a success.  After this wonderful event, we can generally relax for the rest of the school year.  BUT NOT YET:

Taste of West County, held Monday, February 22, 2010 at LHS, is a family friendly event where area restaurants generously supply samples of their fare free of charge.  Our class raises money through ticket sales to the event. Ticket sales and the silent auction held the night of the event are the primary drivers for our success. Proceeds are used to fund our Class of 2011 Celebration night as well as other Class related activities.  To make the event successful, we need:

 Parent/Student Volunteers

We need a great number of parent and student volunteers for the night of the Event.  Please consider working a 2 hour shift from 4:45 – 6:45 or 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.  Please e-mail Cindy Garrone at cmgarrone@yahoo.com with your name, contact information and availability if you can help.  Students will be able to sign up at school for work shifts, as well.  Please encourage your child to volunteer and help out his/her class.

 Silent Auction Items

We still need donations for the baskets to be raffled off at the event. You can donate a complete themed basket or simply donate various items to go in the ones that we put together. Theme ideas are: Dining Out, Rainy Day, Popcorn and Movie Night, Vacation, Gaming, Sports/ Sporting Events, Spa, Crafts, Kitchen, Candy, Pets, Bling, etc. Any individual items are very much appreciated too so if you have tickets to any productions/ events/ movies or games we would LOVE to add them to our baskets. We also welcome monetary donations to help supplement. Remember that all donations are tax deductible and VERY appreciated by the Junior Class! Please contact Tina White for questions or donations at tina.white@charter.net or 636-236-9526.

Whether you can or can’t help with the event or donate to the silent auction, please come enjoy wonderful samples provided by approximately 30 area restaurants and browse our Silent Auction!  You can bring your family, and you won’t have to cook dinner.  A ticket order form is included in the newsletter and available on the LHS website.  Each ticket entitles the holder to one sample from EVERY participating restaurant you choose to try, while supplies last.

Thanks for doing what you can to make this event a successful one. A special thanks to our leaders, Tempie Avila and Cindy Palazzola for Co-Chairing this event for the Class of 2011! Tickets are available now! .
