Practice ACT Opportunity

Sylvan Practice ACT Fundraiser: Saturday September 20th 8:00-11:30 AM

Please share this great practice ACT opportunity with your students and encourage them to sign up and support Renaissance at the same time.

The September 15th registration deadline is rapidly approaching!  LHS Renaissance is offering a great opportunity for your student to take a practice ACT test proctored by our business partner Sylvan Learning Center.  The cost of the test is $10 and all proceeds go directly to LHS Renaissance.

When: Saturday September 20th from 8:00 – 11:30 AM.  This provides your student a great chance to experience actual ACT testing conditions before taking the test.

Where: Test will be proctored at Lafayette High School

Who: Open to all students grades 9-12.  It is recommended that students have taken or are enrolled in Algebra II for more valid scores.

Why: Great opportunity for students in grades 9-12 to take a practice ACT to become familiar with the test in a low stress environment.  This is also the perfect time for all 11th grade students to practice the test before the required ACT on April 28, 2014.

How: Fill out the a registration form and bring $10 cash or check made payable to LHS to the guidance office in room 123 by Monday, September 15th.  The test is not part of the student record and results will be given to you by a Sylvan consultant at our school after the test has been taken.

New Detention Policy

Daily Lunch Detentions
Room 135

In an effort to promote positive behavior choices, the administrative team at LHS will institute Lunch Detentions every day of the week in place of after-school and Saturday detentions.  A student assigned to a lunch detention may bring his/her own lunch, or a sack lunch – charged to the student's account – will be provided.  Should a student skip an assigned detention, his/her lunch account will be charged for the sack lunch.  A student will report to room 135 at the beginning of his/her lunch period and will be dismissed from the detention to return to class.  A student must bring class work or a book to read for the duration of the detention.  If a student is late or a detention is missed, additional discipline will be assigned to the student by his/her grade-level administrator.

Lunch detentions will be issued for a variety of disciplinary infractions including but not limited to:

  • Four or more tardies
  • Bus Misconduct
  • Disruptive Speech or Conduct
  • Dress Code
  • First cell phone violation
  • Insubordination
  • Truancy

For more detailed information on discipline policies and procedures, please access the Rockwood Discipline Handbook which is available online:
