Winner in InvestWrite Essay Contest!

Grant Glazebrook won First Place in the 6th/8th grade division, for the State of Missouri InvestWrite Essay contest hosted by the Stock Market Game. Congratulations Grant!

 

 

 

A Fish Story at LaSalle Springs!
Preston Freeman caught this large mouth bass on the field trip to Busch Wildlife Sanctuary to study Aquatic Eco Systems. The bass was 19.5" long! Nice job Preston!
 
Winners in the Stock Market Game

Congratulations to Stretch students Sierra Blacketer, Tucker Jordan, Nik Zevan on their second place win in the Stock Market Game.They were honored this week at a special recognition dinner courtesy of Missouri Council on Economic Education. Thanks also to Peg Anglin-Rekowski and Jim Hall who attended the dinner.

Student Earns National Alpine Racing Award

8th grader Madison Stemmler won First Place, a Gold Medal, in the Bronze Division at the Nature Valley NASTAR National Championships in Winter Park, Colorado! For the past two years, Madison has been a member of the Hidden Valley Ski Team in Wildwood.  

This year, in the 2012 National Championships, the team brought home 20 medals for Top Three Finishes, including nine Gold Medals, of which Madison earned one. Way to go Madison!

Eagle Scout at LSMS

Congratulations to Jacob Jennemann, an 8th grader, who recently finished 69 merit badges, attended four summer camps, hiked 68 miles, served as an archery instructor, camped for a total of 98 days and 72 nights. Jacob is now an Eagle Scout, the highest achievement ranking in the Boy Scouts. Great job Jacob!

MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR APRIL 3RD!

Dear LaSalle Springs Parents,

On April 3, 2012, Rockwood voters will be asked to vote on Proposition R, a $43.2 million no-tax increase bond issue to support technology, safety measures and infrastructure and maintenance of current facilities.

At LaSalle Springs Middle, funds from the bond issue will allow the district to:

  • Replace aged teacher computers
  • Replace aged student computers
  • Provide replacement parts (e.g., boards and projection devices) as needed for existing SMART Board interactive whiteboard systems
  • Replace aged network switching equipment as needed
  • Replace aged administrative support staff computers as needed
  • Replace sections of the school building’s roof
  • Build new space for student health services/nurse’s office

Glory of Missouri Award Winners
The Glory of Missouri Awards are set up to recognize fourteen students, each representing one of the virtues engraved in the Missouri House Chamber which make up the Glory of Missouri.
Representative Tim Jones will recognize this year's receipients with a Courtesy Resolution in Jefferson City on Monday, April 23, 2012. Each student will have his or her name, and the virtue they represent announced on the House floor. This year's honorees are:

Dream Catcher Scholarships Awarded to LSMS Students
This year The Rockwood Schools Foundation awarded 6 LSMS students with Dream Catcher Scholarships to help explore their educational potential.
The students are: Margaret Kerr, Tori Kettenacker, Taylor Krause, Abigail Lakey, Hannah Powell and Julia Strecker.
Congratulations to each of them!
Outstanding Volunteer

Seventh grader Kate Daniels was recognized by the DASA, Disabled Athletes Sports Association, as “Outstanding Volunteer.”  This winter, Kate, her dad and her brother volunteered twice a week at Hidden Valley to help disabled children and adults learn to snow ski.  Way to make a difference Kate!

1st Place Winners at LSMS!

Congratulation to Teddy Cocos, Trevor Heersink, and Sean Markovitz! Their video Mr. Harry’s Carnival Foods won 1st place for the Show-Me A Movie contest. They were recognized at an awards ceremony on February 14th and the St. Charles Convention Center.
