MIAAA State Athletic Director of the Year

I would like to congratulate Mark Linneman for being named the MIAAA (Missouri Interscholastic Activities Administrators Association) 2012 State Athletic Director of the Year.  As we all know, Mark is an incredible AD and an ambassador for Marquette High School.  It is my honor to work with him daily as I am constantly impressed by his work ethic, commitment, and care.

Mark is truly deserving of this award and I thank him for his leadership and commitment to our school and community.

Orchestra Student

I don’t know how many of you who know Julia Son (9th grade) realize what an amazing young musician she is.  In addition to All State and The Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra, Julia participates in the Preparatory Program of the Webster Community Music School.  There she is a violinist in the Camerton String Quartet.  Last weekend, this group competed in the Midwest Young Artists “Discover Chamber Music” competition.  They won the Open Division for Strings and were the Overall Open Division winners.  In addition to a cash prize, they will be featured in concert in Chicago in March.   Here is a nice article in the Post-Dispatch about Julia and her quartet.

Marquette Alumna

Hilary Orf (sister of Jeff & Greg Orf) has just been selected as a member of Team USA for an International Cross Country meet in Trinidad.

About 2 weeks ago she competed at the Cross Country National Championship in Forest Park and ran a 28:01 8K (averaging about 5:39 per mile). Though running in this race as unattached, she currently attends and runs at SLU.

Hilary ran Cross Country & Track at Marquette and still holds the 2 mile school record. A big congratulations goes out to her and her family!
