Rockwood’s Career Shadowing program has been placing junior students with business professionals for over 25 years.  Over 400 students took advantage of the program in 2011-2012 school year, utilizing 120 business partners in the St. Louis area.  Business partners have hosted career shadowing students in more than 75 different career fields including Engineering, Law Enforcement, Journalism, Education, Broadcasting, Business, Medicine, and Veterinary Sciences. 

The purpose of Career Shadowing is an opportunity for junior students to visit a workplace and/or meet with professionals in a specific career field.  Career Shadowing visits are one day, typically last 4 to 6 hours, during school.  Students gain an insight to their career interest as they begin their career exploration, while business partners have the opportunity to personally expand a student’s awareness of a career path, at the same time establishing their organizations image among students.

Any junior may apply for Career Shadowing.  Sign-up will take place Monday, August 29, Tuesday, August 30, and Wednesday, August 31 in the lunch room at MHS.  Completed applications, with both parent and student signatures, can be dropped off during the lunch hour or to Joan Pischel, the Partners in Education Facilitator, or to the main office.
