Outstanding musicians in the class of 2015
I was extremely pleased to read this very complimentary email from our outstanding orchestra teacher, Mr. James Nacy:

I don’t know how many of you who know Julia Son (9th grade) realize what an amazing young musician she is.  In addition to All State and The Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra, Julia participates in the Preparatory Program of the Webster Community Music School.  There she is a violinist in the Camerton String Quartet.  Last weekend, this group competed in the Midwest Young Artists “Discover Chamber Music” competition.  They won the Open Division for Strings and were the Overall Open Division winners.  In addition to a cash prize, they will be featured in concert in Chicago in March.   Here is a nice article in the Post-Dispatch about Julia and her quartet.

Thank you for sharing that with us, Mr. Nacy

Also, I would like to congratulate the winners and participants in this year's Battle of the Bands competitiion.  I am proud to announce that the champions of this year's event were all freshmen who are members of the band Abraham and the Lincolns.  Congrats to:  Jacob Munson, Kevin Ganahl, Nick Vaaler and River Turner.  They received a cash prize of $250.00 and bragging rights.

Other competitors who displayed incredible amounts of talents were band members Jim Jung from The Oz Jazz Quartet; Josh Rinaberger, Austin Thorn and Michael Kern from the band BKA; and Jacob Glasgow, Barry King and Ryan Berryman from the band Schwinning.

Also, thank you to all the wonderful supportive parents who donated items to sell at our concessions and who helped plan the event from start to finish.  It was an incredibly successful fundraiser for our freshmen class!  I'm proud to be a Mustang!!

Outstanding Freshmen Math Students Make Us Proud!

MHS participated in  the 2011 Excellence in Mathematics contest which was sponsored by the Mathematics Educators of Greater St. Louis at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park.  We are proud to announce that the Class of 2015 earned a 1st Place finish in Division II.

Individual Awards in the Freshman Division II:

       2nd Place - Aravinda Ganapathy

       3rd Place – Aadithya Palaniappan

       4th Place – Praveen Bagavandoss

       9th Place – Lakshmi Kanikkannan

Congratulations, Marquette Scholars!

Congratulations to two of our freshmen!
I wanted to celebrate two of the outstanding freshmen I work with at Marquette.

First, help me congratulate Amanda Ebling who has been chosen to participate in the Saint Louis Ballet's 2011 production of "The Nutcracker".

The Saint Louis Ballet is St. Louis' only resident professional ballet company.  Performance opportunities are available on occasion for serious ballet students only.  Amanda is a stellar student who is talented in many areas, and it is my pleasure to work with her!

Secondly, help me congratulate Praveen Bagavandoss.  Praveen earned a second place finish in last weekend's Lincoln and Douglass Debate.  Praveen is coached by Mr. Dennis Kane of our debate team and he had an outstanding performance as a freshman.

These two students are only a couple of the hundreds of wonderful and talented students I serve.  It's great to be a Mustang!!!

I have three children of my own - Hayden (12), Coleton (9), and Layni (8) - and I know how important it is to get quick, reliable news from the school.  My husband, Bernie, and I have been married fifteen years.
