A Thanks a Million award was presented to Relay For Life of the Rockwood School District for its cumulative donation of one million dollars to the American Cancer Society. During the past 11 years, the Rockwood community has helped in the fight against cancer by raising $1.1 million through Rockwood Relay For Life events.
Rockwood, which hosts the largest Relay For Life in St. Louis County, is one of only 18 Relay events in Missouri to receive this award. This award was presented on Jan. 21 at the annual Relay Summit, a leadership convention for organizers to share strategies for improving their Relay events.
“This award would not be possible without our community’s ongoing support of Rockwood Relay For Life events,” said Jenise Soyster, event chair and teacher. “Each dollar raised helps save lives, and we are proud to do our part as we continue to host Rockwood Relay For Life events.”
On Feb. 4, a Kickoff Celebration will be held at Rockwood Summit High School from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. This event will include entertainment, information, activities and door prizes supporting this year’s theme “Footloose and Cancer Free”. The Rockwood Relay For Life will be held June 1-2 at Rockwood Summit High School. Learn more.
