Rockwood Teacher Named Finalist in State Program

Janice Wenger, a third-grade teacher at the Center for Creative Learning, has been selected as a finalist in the 2012 Missouri Teacher of the Year program. School districts across the state submit their top teachers for consideration in the program, and Wenger is one of six to be named a finalist.

“We’re excited Janice’s contributions to her students, school and the district have been recognized by the state,” said Superintendent Bruce Borchers, Ph.D. “Our schools are outstanding because of teachers like her, and we’re proud to have her represent Rockwood in this program.”

Wenger will travel to Jefferson City on Aug. 6 to interview for the honor of being named the 2012 Missouri Teacher of the Year. The six finalists will also be recognized at the Missouri Teacher of the Year banquet on Oct. 15.

Janice Wenger is an incredible teacher, and also serves as a liaison between exceptionally gifted students and the adults in their lives. She builds bridges of understanding between the family, schools, and CCL teachers. She gathers information about each student and then uses it to help the adults understand each child’s special needs. Her attitude is unfailingly positive whether working one-on-one with students, interacting with parents, or dealing with Rockwood staff. She is a wonderful asset to Rockwood School District as well as to Rockwood’s Gifted Program!

Janice is the Gold Standard in education. She empowers children to become the best they can be, capitalize on their gifts, and develop advocacy skills that will take them through a life time. Best of Luck to her!
