
The application process for Project Interface begins in October of a student’s junior year for participation the summer before or school term of their senior year. Following are the steps involved.
· October – Letter sent home to parents of students who have the qualifying GPA
· November – Interested students attend a Student Information Meeting at their individual school
· November – Students complete an application which includes an essay explaining interest in their career choice, teacher/counselor recommendations
· December – Applications are due back to the Partners in Education Office
· January – Students are interviewed by the Project Interface facilitator and Partners in Education Supervisor
· January thru April – Project Interface facilitator secures business partners
· April – Students attend a mandatory Orientation & Training meeting for participation in Project Interface
· June-August – Summer students participate in internship
· October-March – School term students participate in internship.
Successful Project Interface students should have demonstrated the following characteristics:
· Self –Confidence
· Self - Motivated
· Responsible
· Able to make the time commitment required
· Taken the course work to support the career choice – examples follow:
o Engineering – Project Lead the Way Courses
o Medical – Anatomy, biology, chemistry
o Journalism -.Writing courses, newspaper and/or yearbook staff
