Care Team is a group of staff members who meet on an as needed basis to discuss the progress of individual students. It is designed to be a collaborative brainstorming process to generate ideas to increase student success.
When a teacher or parent has concerns about a particular student, the Care Team meets to discuss the student's progress. The child's academic, social, or emotional needs may be addressed and an action plan is written. This action plan may make recommendations such as: simple classroom interventions, curriculum modification, counseling at school, or a referral to the school social worker. If the team feels that a student may have a learning disability, speech or language impairment, emotional disturbance, or some other disability, they may recommend testing by Special School District. The Care Team is just one way that we try to problem solve and meet the needs of our students.
