Rockwood believes its outstanding schools are the result of outstanding teachers, administrators and support staff. The Rockwood School District reports the following:
- The majority, 76.1 percent, of all Rockwood teachers have master’s degrees.
- Teachers have experience, an average of 13 years experience in the classroom.
- As identified under the federal mandate of No Child Left Behind, 100 percent of Rockwood classes are taught by highly qualified teachers.
- Rockwood provides ongoing professional development for all employees. It has a comprehensive program for the development of teachers at all levels of experience.
- A Rockwood art teacher was named the 2012 Missouri Middle School Art Teacher of the Year.
- A Rockwood middle school principal was selected as the 2011 Middle School Principal of the Year by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP).
- A Rockwood elementary school teacher was named as a finalist in the 2010-2011 Missouri Teacher of the Year Program.
- A
Rockwood science teacher was named as a finalist in the 2009-2010 Missouri Teacher of the Year Program.
- Four Rockwood elementary teachers are recognized for their accomplishments and contributions by the National Associationof School Psychologists (NASP).
- Fourteen teachers earned National Board Certification in 2011. This increases the number of nationally certified Rockwood teachers to 81. These educators have earned the profession’s top honor in teaching excellence.
- The Missouri School Counselor Association has recognized Rockwood counselors as the top in the state in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
