Week of 11/14-11/18
6th Grade Math: This week we will be finishing up our Bits and Pieces I book and preparing for our District Common Assessment on changing forms between fractions, percents, and decimals. Our Investigation 3 Quiz on decimals will be on Thursday, November 17. Our DCA will be next Monday.
Challenge Pre-Algebra: Our Investigation 3 Quiz over volume and suface area of cylinders and triangular prisms will be on thursday, November 17. This week we will also be working on measuring and drawing angles with a protractor, finding complementary and supplementary angles, and identifying angle relationships.
Week of 11/7-11/10
6th Grade Math: This week we will be learing to compare and order decimals and introduce percents. Students are working their way towards being able to change forms between fractions, percents, and decimals. Our decimal quiz will be at the beginning of next week.
Challenge Pre-Algebra: This week students will be practicing their volumes and surface areas for rectangular and triangular prisms and cylinders. Students will be doing an investigation where they design a juice box that holds the same amount of juice as a can. We will also be beginning our study of angles starting with using a protractor.
Week of 10/1-11/4
6th Grade Math: Our Investigaiton 2 Quiz has been moved to Monday, October 31 so we could spend more time in class practicing our fraction skills. This week we will be working on representing fractions with powers of 10 in the denominator as decimals.
Challenge Pre-Algebra: Our Investigation 1 Quiz on 3-D vocabulary and surface area, volume, and nets of rectangular prisms will be on Monday, October 31. This week we will be working on finding surface area and volume of cylinders and triangular prism.
Week of 10/24-10/27
6th Grade Math: Our Investigation 2 Quiz will be on Wednesday, October 26. The quiz will be on finding equivalent fractions (including simplest form), comparing and ordering fractions, and changing forms between improper fractions and mixed numbers. We will also be beginning our study of decimals this week.
Challenge Pre-Algebra: This week we will be working on surface area and volume of rectangular prisms and cross sections of 3-D figures.
