Summer Academic Opportunities are available at different Colleges & Opportunities around the country through the summer for rising Juniors and Seniors.

Washington University in St. Louis offers two different programs:
High School Summer Scholars Program (5 weeks, credit) – Enroll in two college courses for credit, transferable to most accredited universities;
High School Summer Institutes (3 weeks, noncredit) – Explore an area of interest under the guidance of Washington University instructors.
MU’s High School Mini Medical School is a one-week program that gives students a preview of life as an MU medical student. Drury University Pre-College Summer Programs Camp offers two leadership experiences for students in grades 9-12. For information, visit www.drury.edu/giftededucation .
University of Illinois-Chicago Ad Camp will be held June 18-29th. This camp inspires students to explore how their talents could lead to an exciting future in the advertising industry through workshops, client and agency trips, and real-world projects. Murray State University Cyber Cave is designed to expose high school students to computer and networking technologies through hands-on, interactive activities. There are several camp dates available. Visit www.murraystate.edu/tsm/cybercave for more information.
Maryville University Summer Institute – Criminal Justice/Forensic Science is a one-week summer program that will allow you to explore all facets of the Criminal Justice system. You will be introduced to a hands-on learning experience that explores the process of evidence collection, evidence analysis and the presentation of evidence in the classroom. Registration deadline is 6/1/12.

College Representative Visits to Rockwood Summit:
Students must sign up ONE DAY in advance in the College Center to participate in college presentations.

The Rockwood School District and Rockwood Summit High School offer a full array of college counseling services, including but not limited to; one-on-one student and family college advisement, financial aid and scholarship awareness, college application packaging and recommendations and career information & planning. Many organizations in the St. Louis region offer these same services with a fee structure attached. Please feel free to take advantage of the wonderful opportunities presented to you at Rockwood Summit High School before determining if a for-profit college counseling service is right for you.
