The purpose of this class is to give high school juniors and seniors interested in becoming teachers, pre-vocational information and experience.  The program consists of:  a)  classroom instruction using the Cadet Teaching Curriculum and b)  field work with a cooperating teacher at either the elementary or secondary level.  Each person must furnish his or her own transportation to the school where he/she is a cadet teacher.

Cadet Teacher field work hours may be used for students enrolled in the A+ program to fulfill a portion of the tutoring/mentoring requirements.

Prerequisites:  3.0 cumulative GPA, attendance within the district's acceptable limits, no record of in-school or out-of-school suspensions, excellent teacher recommendation, and a minimum of B in the course for which he/she plans to Cadet teach-student must complete an application and be approved by the instructor prior to taking this course.
