Dear Parents,

          Welcome to first grade at Stanton Elementary School!  The upcoming school year promises to be both exciting and challenging.   Our year will be filled with many new experiences that will inspire growth and development.

          We are delighted to be your child’s teacher this year.  Our goal is to provide a positive and interesting learning environment for your child every day.  Activities will be developed to facilitate experiences that will enhance your child’s natural curiosity and encourage a life long love for learning. 

          On the following pages, you will find information regarding classroom policies and procedures.  Additional information will be shared with you in September during the Curriculum Night.  If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us. 

          We are looking forward to spending a year of excitement and success with you and your child.  We know that first grade will be an enjoyable and memorable year for each and every one of us.

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT

Our First grade classrooms must be efficient environments where all students can learn and be successful.  To insure this, we will discuss a variety of expectations as a class, in our class meetings.  Once our rules have been established, we will post them in the classroom.

HOMEWORK

          Please read with your child every day for at least ten minutes.  Homework will begin a few weeks into school.  Please refer to each teachers homework policy.  Homework pages should take the children no more than 10-15 minutes a night.  This is a way to help parents know what we are learning in the classroom and it also helps the children practice the skills they have learned in the classroom.
