Mission Statement
The Rockwood School District will enhance technology opportunities and training for all students, teachers and staff to maximize student learning and to ensure student success in a global community.
Rockwood Instructional Technology Teachings Strategies
We are pleased to announce that Rockwood has reconfigured RITTS! Our new cost effective model virtually eliminates impact on the district budget. Additionally, this model provides greater flexibility in an effort to better meet teacher needs without impacting instructional time. For the 2011-2012 school year, the Instructional Technology Department is offering RITTS in a 100% voluntary format. Teachers (including former RITTS graduates) have the option to sign-up to attend any one session, several sessions or all RITTS sessions. The sessions will be held from 4:30 – 7:30 pm. Stipends will not be provided as participation is voluntary. Teachers currently in year 2 of the traditional program, will continue in the traditional model through completion in the spring.
Participants in this program will learn how to embed constructivist principles, inquiry-based learning, and student questioning into classroom instruction leading to more effective and engaging lessons that result in increased student achievement. Participants will learn to integrate instructional strategies using a variety of technology tools and resources for literacy, adaptive, and transformational uses. Participants will plan for, execute, and reflect on new lessons that incorporate their new learning in their own classrooms.
The topics of sessions offered are listed below:
1. Constructivism
