Better Technology for a Brighter Tomorrow!

Mission Statement
The Rockwood School District will enhance technology opportunities and training for all students, teachers and staff to maximize student learning and to ensure student success in a global community.

Read Across Rockwood!

Read Across Rockwood is an effort to connect classrooms using desktop videoconferencing.  Here is a comment from a teacher:

"WOW!!! What a fun experience we had today “skyping” with our classrooms!  The students did an amazing job on their plays today.  This was certainly a wonderful opportunity and experience for our students!  My students really thought that the students in your classroom did a great job on their play.  After our “skyping” session, my students were telling me that they could hear the students very well and they had great props, sound effects, and scenery.  ... I can tell that you all worked very hard to prepare for this day!  My students also had a great time preparing our play for your students.  We learned a lot about stage direction and turning a story into a play with speaking parts for a pre-school audience.  I can’t thank you enough for taking on this opportunity and making this day so special for all of our students. "

Rockwood Instructional Technology Teaching Strategies

Rockwood's Instructional Technology Teaching Strategies program provides a limited cost professional development program for teachers..  This model provides greater flexibility in an effort to better meet teacher needs without impacting instructional time.  The Instructional Technology Department is offering RITTS in a 100% voluntary format.  Teachers (including former RITTS graduates) have the option to sign-up to attend any one session, several sessions or all RITTS sessions.  The sessions will be held from 4:30 – 7:30 pm.   Stipends will not be provided as participation is voluntary.  Teachers currently in year 2 of the traditional program, will continue in the traditional model through completion in the spring.

Participants in this program will learn how to embed constructivist principles, inquiry-based learning, and student questioning into classroom instruction leading to more effective and engaging lessons that result in increased student achievement. Participants will learn to integrate instructional strategies using a variety of technology tools and resources for literacy, adaptive, and transformational uses. Participants will plan for, execute, and reflect on new lessons that incorporate their new learning in their own classrooms.
