Ballwin Police are teaming up with Lowe’s to help citizens “build“on their home safety. In many instances it is as easy as making sure your home’s exterior doors are solid and provide resistance from a would-be intruder. Unfortunately, we often overlook vulnerable areas that may attract that unwanted person. Homes that are “easy targets” can even be viewed just by driving by.
“The reason we teamed up with Lowe’s is first and foremost that they are our home project center when it comes to building and home tasks. They are the experts on material, installation and what items can stand the test of time, showing what is the best deterrent” says Ballwin Police Chief Steve Schicker.
Our Police Department is able to look at homes and determine places of vulnerability and provide tips on home safety. With the recent incidents that have occurred throughout the metropolitan area, we would like to assure that our homes are safe havens for our families. If that is not the case, then measures can be taken to address those areas that are susceptible to break-in and expose our families to criminal activity.
The Ballwin Police and Lowe’s are sponsoring a seminar entitled, “Building on Home Safety.” The seminar is free and open to the public. It will be held at the Ballwin Lowe’s on Saturday, February 25, 2012, from 10AM – Noon.
To register for this event, please contact Officer Sarah Bonsee at (636) 227-2650 or Sgt. Jim Heldmann at (636) 207-2351. The first 35 people to register will receive a complementary Ballwin Police flashlight.
